Top 5 Ways to Go Make-Up Free ~ Rhonda Allison

makeThe “no makeup movement” began several years ago, but occasionally is brought back into the spotlight in a big way. For instance, when the entire cast of the Today Show and Kathy Lee and Hoda bared it all on air with No Makeup Monday in February.

For those who routinely wear makeup, going au naturale’ can be very uncomfortable initially. If you have been wanting to go makeup free, scale back or simply feel better “naked” (meaning the face), there are several ways to do so.

1. Youthful eyes

The eye area requires special treatment. It is thinner, has less fatty tissue, and is more delicate and sensitive than any other area of the face. To maintain a bright, youthful appearance, the eyes want extra hydration, cell-regeneration, circulation and collagen support.

The right topicals applied morning and night will transform the eyes in a matter of weeks. For home care, arm yourself with a combination of nourishing and corrective ingredients like peptides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, natural brightening ingredients, retinols.

2. Brighten up the skin tone for all- over radiance

While correcting pigmentation issues will vary greatly by client, ingredients that work to correct the issue include bellis perennis flower (daisy flower), L-arbutin, kojic acid, L-lactic acid, and azelaic acid. These will work to inhibit melanin synthesis, brighten, and treat post- inflammatory hyperigmentation.

3. Clear acne and blemishes

Acne is one of the most common skin challenges in the U.S. You can get to the root of the problem by first breaking the skin down, then rebuilding it with nourishing, hydrating and healing formulas. Blemish- reducing ingredients such as green tea, salicylic, glycolic and L-lactic acids, retinol and growth factors will elilminate bacteria, bring the skin back to optimal health and prevent future breakouts and scarring.

A purifying antibacterial mask will help to restore the skin.

4. Firm up the skin

Our cells are continually subject to a barrage of environmental stressors and free radicals, which threaten the collagen structure. To help repair the damage, firm up the skin and refine lines, use topicals rich in antioxidants like ascorbic acid, tocopherols, retinoids, and L-lactic acid to name a few.

5. Plump up with hydration

Get healthy, hydrated skin with a home care system consisting of a cleanser, nourishing and correcting serums, a moisturizer, and protection (sunscreen). This will vary by individual needs and concerns, so a customized approach will be in order, but a few ingredients that support hydration include antioxidants, growth factors and hyaluronic acid, and sunscreen is absolutely essential.

Whether you’re shifting to completely makeup free or simply want to feel more confident with your skin, be sure to use sunscreen in the process. Many women rely on the SPF in their makeup products to provide the protection, but that is not enough to prevent further damage.

make upFace Place includes all 5 of these steps in every Customized Facial we provide. We also recommend home care products to support and maintain the effects of our treatments. Whether you use the products we sell or choose a product line of your own, we will make sure you have exactly the products you need for your specific conditions and concerns.
